Early Childhood and Family Background

Bernard Tekpetey was born on September 3, 1997, in Accra, Ghana. Growing up in a modest neighborhood, Tekpetey was one of many young children who shared the dream of becoming a professional footballer. Tekpetey began his education at King’s Palace Community Neighbourhood School in La, a small but vibrant community school in the heart of Accra. Here, he not only developed a love for learning but also grew his passion for football. His teachers and peers recognized his raw talent, and during break periods, Tekpetey would be found on the school’s field honing his skills.

As he progressed in his education, his family relocated to Kasoa, a bustling town on the outskirts of Accra. There, Tekpetey continued his primary education at Datus International Complex, a well-known school with a reputation for both academic excellence and extracurricular activities. Datus International provided him with a more structured environment for his development, allowing him to balance his academic pursuits with football. His performances on the field during inter-school competitions at Datus earned him further recognition, sparking interest from local football academies.

Schooling and Struggles at Kumasi Technical University

Tekpetey’s formal education took a significant turn when he enrolled at Kumasi Technical University. Like many aspiring footballers in Ghana, Bernard had to navigate the difficult balance between education and his pursuit of a professional football career. Kumasi Technical University provided a unique environment for Bernard, giving him the flexibility to study while pursuing his footballing ambitions.

However, this period was not without its struggles. Bernard faced financial hardships, and keeping up with both academic responsibilities and football training became a daunting task. He relied on personal discipline, time management, and the unwavering support of a few close friends and mentors to stay afloat. These hardships only further fueled his determination.
